Eventually the paramedics stopped arguing and allowed Dick to accompany Cissie in the ambulance. While the ambulance sped toward the nearest hospital, Cissie grew increasingly tired and pale from pain and blood loss. Halfway there, she turned to Dick, blinking blearily and pulling the oxygen mask off enough to ask, "Tim?"
