2.) The right things to do are those that keep our violence in abeyance; the wrong things are those that bring it to the fore. Robert J. Sawyer
3.) Nothing fixes a thing so intensely in the memory as the wish to forget it. Michel de Montaigne

1.) If we fall, we don't need self-recrimination or blame or anger - we need a reawakening of our intention and a willingness to recommit, to be whole-hearted once again. Sharon Salzberg

2.) You must learn to face the fact, always, that you choose to do what you do, and that everything you do affects not only you but others. Holly Lisle

3.) When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen. Ernest Hemingway

4.) We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders. Maya Angelou

It's a good one. If you can keep it in mind, you'll go pretty far and be pretty happy, I think. I'm not always the best at it.

Yeah. I'm not great at it either, but I'm better than I used to be? It took me a while to figure that one out, I think.

:P I suppose.

No, I know you're right. It's a work in progress still, I think. Dropping the self-recrimination and guilt is harder than it makes it sound. And--it's hard for me to take praise or credit or whatever about it. If that makes sense. But I'm working on it.

Fair enough!

No, I get that. And believe me, I know how hard it is. You do remember what family I'm part of, right? We all have our moments of self-recrimination. Or decades.
