Jun. 4th, 2009 12:29 pmHey guys--I know it's short notice, but Bart's birthday is on Saturday and I thought it would be nice to do something for him. Like maybe surprise him with a party--it's been such a busy week with the bakery opening, I kept meaning to mention this and not having the time! Anyway, how does a party at the bakery on Saturday sound? I know it would mean a LOT to Bart; presents aren't required, just bring yourself!
Let me know if you can make it, or if you can help me set up. I'll need someone to help keep Bart busy and away from me and the bakery on Saturday afternoon for a few hours, too. Tabby, maybe you can mention this to some of Bart's other friends? I haven't met them all yet.
So anyway! RSVP here, I guess (yay for the internet!). You don't have to stay long, just stop by the bakery sometime... after 5? on Saturday to say Happy Birthday to Bart. If you have any ideas, I'm definitely open to suggestions!
(Um... I know some of you might not be in a party mood right now, but it is Bart's birthday and it would mean a lot to him? I don't know guys, let me know what you think.)

THANK YOU!
The Frenzied Spork's grand opening was a HUGE success, and it was so wonderful to see everybody yesterday! Thank you all for coming in to support us; it meant soooo much to have all of our friends and family there for the bakery's first day.

And guys, thank you sooo much for the balloons, flowers and pictures and shirts! We love them. And especially thank you for trying to make everything perfect for us and for coming by for the toast after closing.

State of the Cissie so does not sound as cool as State of the Bart. And Cissie Status doesn't sound great either. What's up in Cissie-land? Yeah, no. I am reminded why I went through a phase in which I asked everyone to call me Ralph.
ANYWAY. Mother's Day--not so bad! Bart, thank you. I would say I couldn't have done it without you, but I probably could have--I just didn't want to. And you won Mom over, so--yay! ♥ It meant a lot to have you with me.
I don't know that she's completely sold on the bakery yet, but I'm waiting for the day she shows up with billboard mock-ups. (You think I'm joking.)
Aaaaaaand in other news--Cassie and I went shopping yesterday. My living room looks like an LL Bean catalog threw up in here. Seriously, guys. We are totally almost all set. Hopefully we can fit all of this gear in the van with us. ;)

Cissie hates that things with her mother are so complicated. They're much better than they used to be. Not living together and having a few hours drive between them have helped, but she hates that that's what it took. She hates a lot of things when she stops to think about it, so she tries not to. She also hates that she still feels like she needs her mother's approval, even if she tells herself she doesn't.
( She hates being nervous to tell her own mother the amazing things that are making her happy. )

Baking, baking, baking
Apr. 30th, 2009 04:01 pmSo, I made more snickerdoodles this morning. But Bart was here, so they are all gone now. If this is how this is going to work, though, our bakery might be in trouble! ;)
Anyway! I experimented this afternoon! I hereby declare all of you my test subjects. I'll bring them tonight. Bart has promised not to eat them all, and I am posting pictures. Partly so Bart won't sneakily eat all of something anyway and partly just to show off.
Anyway, I experimented with snickerdoodles. ( I feel kind of like a mad scientist. With cinnamon. )
Sooo... here's hoping everyone likes cinnamon?

Date Night with Bart

It had been a really awesome day, and a fantastic date night. Bart had picked her up, taken her out to dinner and then they'd gone dancing. Cissie couldn't remember the last time she had spent so much time smiling and laughing as she did when she was with Bart, and now she was tired and happy and still couldn't stop smiling. She had kicked off her shoes halfway through the night, but her feet were still sore, so she made Bart give her a piggyback ride up to her apartment.

And Tabby did this, so here's what I'm wearing tonight. Bart said I should wear something nice, and he won't tell me where we're going because it's a surprise.
