[RP with [livejournal.com profile] mrsarcastic003, sometime after the talk with Tim and subsequent argument with Dick.]

After Bart left, Cissie trudged up the stairs to the apartment. She let herself in and kicked off her shoes. She had probably over-reacted, storming out like that, but she had just been so frustrated. With Tim, with Dick. With herself. And if she was honest, more than a little scared and hurt that Tim was apparently keeping something so important from her. Something Dick--who Tim was barely on speaking terms with--knew about. And judging from Tim's reactions, it wasn't something he wanted her to know.

The walk with Bart had helped, though. She was much calmer and less likely to start screaming--or crying--as soon as she saw Tim. In fact, when she had made her way through the apartment and found him waiting for her in the bedroom, all she really wanted was a hug. She leaned against the doorframe and said softly, "Hi."

[RP with [livejournal.com profile] mrsarcastic003, a few hours after this]

Cissie woke up for the second time Thursday morning when her alarm went off. She rolled over to her side of the bed and switched it off, bypassing the snooze button entirely. She thought briefly about getting up and going for her morning run, then grabbed her cell phone. No missed calls. No voice mails. No text messages. Ringer on high and obnoxious. Just like an hour ago. And a day ago. And every day since--and including--Saturday. She dropped the phone back on the nightstand and looked up at the ceiling for a few minutes. She should get up. Probably. But she was tired--she hadn't been sleeping well--and she didn't have anywhere she needed to be. So she rolled back over to Tim's side of the bed, huddled under the covers once more and hugged his pillow to her. She buried her face in it and drifted back to sleep for a few more hours.

Things had been remarkably drama-free since arriving in Yosemite on Friday night--whether it was the drinking that night, or being able to spend a few days out of the van, or finally getting used to being together 24/7, Cissie wasn't sure. But she wasn't going to complain. Even two days in the van heading home had been surprisingly stress-free, save the brief tension between Cassie and Bart when they kind of argued about empathy. They seemed to have moved on quickly, but it reminded Cissie that she had been meaning to find some time to talk with Cassie--if Cassie would open up and actually talk.

She waited until sunset on Wednesday night, when everyone was hanging around the campfire or off teasing swans, in Kon's case. Then she grabbed her camera and cornered Cassie while she was in her tent, asking her if she wanted to go down by the lake to take pictures of the sunset with her.

Cissie wasn't kidding when she told Cassie that she had lost her living room somewhere under all the camping supplies. She had lists--somewhere--of everything she'd bought and what it was all for, but at the moment she didn't care so much about all of that. At the moment she just wanted to get everything out of the store packaging and into the duffle bags and plastic containers so it would all fit in the van. She hoped it would all fit in the van.

She had asked Cassie to come by to help. While she certainly appreciated the help, she knew she could also have asked Bart, or managed on her own. But she wanted to spend a little time with Cassie, and to talk to her about what had happened over the weekend, especially the part where Bart told her Cassie had broken up with Tim and Kon to sacrifice her own happiness for everyone else's.

Bart was in a pretty decent mood when he showed up at Cissie's after the meeting. )

A truth should exist, it should not be used like this. If I love you, is that a fact or a weapon? - Margaret Atwood

Cissie hates that things with her mother are so complicated. They're much better than they used to be. Not living together and having a few hours drive between them have helped, but she hates that that's what it took. She hates a lot of things when she stops to think about it, so she tries not to. She also hates that she still feels like she needs her mother's approval, even if she tells herself she doesn't.

She hates being nervous to tell her own mother the amazing things that are making her happy. )

[RP with [livejournal.com profile] nokidflash, because Bart and Cissie are freaking adorable.]

It had been a really awesome day, and a fantastic date night. Bart had picked her up, taken her out to dinner and then they'd gone dancing. Cissie couldn't remember the last time she had spent so much time smiling and laughing as she did when she was with Bart, and now she was tired and happy and still couldn't stop smiling. She had kicked off her shoes halfway through the night, but her feet were still sore, so she made Bart give her a piggyback ride up to her apartment.

Cissie closed her laptop and buried her face in her hands. She had thirty-five minutes before Bart showed up, and she was going to need all of them. She'd spent the last twenty hours or so in something of a daze, not really believing the reality of Bart being gone and clinging to the idea that he would come back. And despite all the arguing about blame and "stopping" Bart, she just hadn't been able to place blame anywhere. The idea that Bart had left on purpose was just not something she had been able to grasp yet.

But now Bart was back, and saying that he not only knew what he'd been doing, but that he had done it--he'd left them--without knowing if he could come back.

Five minutes before Bart was due to arrive, Cissie stopped crying and went to wash her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror, grimacing. She looked horrible, like she'd been crying all day. Her eyes were red and swollen and her face was splotchy and pale. She just couldn't bring herself to care, though. So she splashed more water on her face, went to change her t-shirt and wait for Bart.

I hate April Fools' Day. God help anyone who tries to prank me again today, I swear to God. I'm going for a run and no, I don't care that it's raining.

Bringing my cell phone because I'm not stupid, but I'm not really in the mood to talk.
