...I have no idea what I think about this.

Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richard’s army against the French. Upon Richard’s death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion, a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

On one hand--new Robin Hood movie, yay! I mean--Robin Hood!! YAY. And it looks like they might actually know how to hold a bow. Maybe. Also, Cate Blachett. Always good.

On the other hand... hello, blood and gore. Am I the only one having Gladiator flashbacks? I mean--Russell Crowe? Meh.

Oh, well. I will reserve judgment. I mean, I know Prince of Thieves was pretty horrible, but I still love it. So who knows?

HEY! Gladiator is my favorite movie EVER.

Also, Ridley Scott directed it and this, so, yeah, total flashbacks. Annnnnnnnd, blood and gore is sort of THE POINT of gladiators so it was cool there and maybe not so much in Robin Hood.

But still.

I like Gladiator! It's a little gory, but like you said, it's kind of the point. But Gladiator is not Robin Hood and it will make me sad if it is too much like it.

You're willing to put up with me and my Robin Hood critiques? ;)

I'm making Tim sit between us. You can talk to each other about how bad the fighting and archery is.

::laughs:: It's a good plan, except that you will still hear us with your superhearing.

Technically, that could happen even if I'm not in the theater with you.

Yes, but then you would not even be able to tease us about it! Or see a movie for your suffering.

True. Are you trying to convince me to see it with you guys or not?

...Well, I thought you wanted to see it with us?

I do! Annoying habit of talking about how wrong everything is or not!

...Are you going to critique the archery again?

...Should I remind you about the last kung-fu movie we saw?

Hey, Cass agreed with me.

Of course she did! And Roy agrees with me on the archery. ;-) But there are a lot more kung-fu movies than archery movies! And it looks like maybe they have THAT right in this movie. So I might just critique the plot?

Oh, good. We can both play that game. ::grin::

(And the fact that there are more kung fu movies out there only means that there are more people out there GETTING IT WRONG. Cissie, some of them are just so painful.)

See? You'll have fun. ;)

(Yes, dear. You know what else is painful? When you re-enact the evilbadwrong kung fu and take out our coffee table.)

It was a very evil coffee table, yes, of course. But I do like the end tables and lamps, for future reference.
